She wrote, “To KNOW DJ/Joseph Park was to LOVE him. I could write a novel but I’ll just leave it at that for now. I’ll miss you forever but at least you can rest easy now.”

Shawn Elliott, the current USC tight ends coach, was instrumental in recruiting Park from high school.

During his high school years, Park played under Jackie Hayes at Dillon High School. He was a key player in the Wildcats’ 2012 state championship team.

His skills on the field earned him a spot as a Shrine Bowl Selection and he was ranked as the 16th-best offensive tackle in the country, according to 247Sports.

Furthermore, the news of Park’s passing led to an outpouring of condolences on social media, with Elliott among those expressing their grief.

Park’s death was mourned by many, including his coach at Dillon High, who posted a heartfelt message on social media: “We all mourn the loss of a great Dillon Wildcat DJ Park! RIP Gone too soon!”

The former athlete’s talent was recognized nationally when he played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.

Park was also a member of the MaxPreps All-American team for small schools during his senior year.

Park’s versatility was evident at USC as he played in 44 games with five starts during his career. He played both as a guard and a tackle, showcasing his adaptability and skill.
