What Happened To Renard Spivey?
In 2019, an American actor was arrested on suspicion of killing his wife, Patricia Ann Marshall.
Patricia had worked in the administration department of Methodist Hospital for more than 25 years.
According to court records, Renard called 911 on July 28, 2019, around 3 a.m., seeking an ambulance.
Renard Spivey told authorities that he and his wife had been arguing about their lack of physical closeness throughout the day.
He claimed that they were struggling with a gun when it accidentally went off and shot her.
Patricia was discovered in the main bedroom closet with two deadly gunshot wounds, one in her chest through her arm and another in her heart and lung.
Another bullet grazed her leg, causing severe bleeding.
Beside Patricia’s body, authorities found her cell phone, three empty shell casings, and a 9mm handgun sitting on a clothes hamper.
Renard also sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to Ben Taub Hospital for medical care.
According to Renard’s account, the altercation started when one of them tried to grab the gun from the nightstand.
During the incident, three shots were fired, resulting in two fatal wounds for Patricia and one injury for Renard.
This took place at their home on Briscoe Street in southeast Houston.
Patricia’s brother, Ezra Washington, informed investigators that the couple argued about Renard’s lack of intimacy.
Patricia had concerns that Renard might be using steroids or having an affair outside of their marriage.
Surprisingly, Patricia’s father was present in the house on the day of the incident.
Still, he told the police that he did not hear or witness any altercation between the couple.
Trial And Verdict: Bailed Or Still In Jail
After Renard Spivey’s arrest, the case went to trial to determine his involvement in his wife’s death.
During the trial, Patricia’s brother revealed some troubling details about their marriage, shedding light on potential motives for the tragic incident.
However, despite the evidence presented, the jury seemed to have doubts, particularly regarding who had possession of the murder weapon at the time of the shooting.
Following the verdict, Renard was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond, according to KHOU.
This means that he was allowed to leave jail while awaiting further legal proceedings or appeals related to the case.
Being released on bond does not necessarily mean that Renard is free from all legal obligations or that the case is entirely resolved.
