Wendell Johnson was a talented production designer who worked on 33 episodes of the TV show “The Neighborhood”.
The late producer started his work in the second season and was mostly known for his work in the fourth and fifth seasons.
His work will be remembered and he will be missed by his team. Johnson was also known for creating the graphics for the opening sequence of Will Smith’s popular ’90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.
Before he worked as a production assistant on “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, Johnson was chosen to work on “Fresh Prince.”
This was reportedly after an associate producer saw his work on “Webster”, where he created the logo and graphics for Smith’s new show.
Maria Lopez, an associate producer, brought Johnson in to work on the “Fresh Prince” opening sequence, which had to be graffiti to match the show’s style.

Johnson’s personal website shows many projects he worked on over the years as a production designer.
Some of his notable works include “Kevin Can Wait”, “Mulaney”, “Growing Up Wayans”, “Survivor”, and “The Carmichael Show”.
In total, Johnson has 33 credits listed on his IMDB page, including serving as the art director for “Fired Up”, “The Trouble With Normal”, and “Mad About You”.
Furthermore, Wendell’s good friend Amy Winslow set up a GoFundMe page to help his family with the costs of cremation and a memorial celebration.
The goal was $30,000, but the donations have already gone past that amount and now total nearly $46,000.

Amy Wilson, a colleague and friend, organized the GoFundMe. She shared that Johnson had a lengthy and distinguished career in Hollywood as a production designer.
After graduating from high school art school, Johnson began his career as a page at Paramount Studios and eventually worked his way up to become a production designer.
The GoFundMe page, set up in honor of Wendell Johnson, aimed to provide financial support to his family.
It stated that despite his successful career in Hollywood, Johnson faced difficulties in 2023 due to a writer’s strike.
The unexpected death has left the family in shock, struggling to cover funeral expenses. The fundraiser urged people to donate to help the family recover from this tragic event.
